‘ Vehicle-in-Vehicle transport’ is a handy engine-implemented feature that enables new logistical options, like quickly moving an LSV in the belly of a VTOL (great for an island archipelago). So you are much more careful when engaging enemies.Alongside the resolution of miscellaneous gameplay-related issues, a few things stand out. If you die you typically don't just get to respawn and go right back into the fight. The maps are enormous, and planning and travelling to and from locations takes up a large portion of your time. It is realistic, difficult, and isn't constantly firefights and explosions. ARMA is not for the people who want a shootem up game. The realism makes the game very difficult, and it requires (somewhat) realistic military tactics. If your going to get into hardcore arma like ace mod, a mic is almost mandatory. ACE mod (I believe) is not available for ARMA III but it is available for ARMA II. But in all seriousness its great if you have a group of friends to play with. It's so realistic its kind of annoying and tedious, just like real life :D. For example, if you don't wear ear protection you can go deaf. On top of that, one of the more popular mods ACE mod (Advanced Combat Environment) enhances the realism including more realistic weapon operation, wounding system, sounds, etc. For example the mods you've seen in this video. The game gets much more realistic with mods. So Arma has a lot of faces, it has its bugs also, but the community is what makes Arma so fun. Game modes are where Arma loses its definition, it ranges from Altis life and wasteland (RPG styles) where you roleplay and have some fun, then you can have popular game modes like King of the hill and Battle royale (mostly deathmatch) and then have something more like Insurgency, where you have hostile sectors and clear them out, this is more of a COOP style.
With that said, Arma is not for everybody, it has a wide range of controls, stances, and the controls (apart the usual WASD and freelook) are very diffrent from a common FPS like Battlefield or even Call of duty.
You can find mods for almost anything in the game, mostly created by the community and some Military Simulation Groups (Or Mil Sim) who add much much more to the game. Its a very moddable game also, like this one features Blastcore for lightning and explosions and also JSRS for sound. The present map of Arma 3 is about 270 square kilometers.
